Three DotJames Charrington named Chair of Miroma’s theatre agencies

Dewynters and SpotCo, the Miroma-backed theatre marketing specialists, have announced the appointment of James Charrington as Chair, following a period of significant growth for the agencies.

Charrington, who is currently CEO of both businesses, moves into an advisory role in October. He became head of London-based Dewynters in 2016, with a mission to revitalise the agency whilst staying true to its heritage. Following his appointment as CEO of New York’s SpotCo in 2022, he oversaw both agencies’ stabilisation, new leadership structure and subsequent expansion after the pandemic.

Since then, the agencies have both experienced three years of successive growth, representing some of the longest running musicals on Broadway and in the West End, as well as adding visitor attractions, immersive projects and exhibitions to their rosters.

James Charrington said: “I had a very specific brief in 2022, following six years at Dewynters; to grow the two companies together, and quickly, following a harrowing spell for the industry during the pandemic.

“I’m delighted to see both Dewynters and SpotCo thrivingand that is in no small part down to the teams we have in place, with the incredible leadership of Managing Directors Anne Ewart at Dewynters, and Callie Goff and Steve Sosnowski at SpotCo.

“Bringing audiences and artists together is one of the most exciting challenges in the marketing world and I’m proud to have been a part of the industry’s recovery at such a crucial time; I’m thrilled to continue my career-long association with the agencies and with our clients in the UK and US in my new role as Chair.”

Marc Boyan, Founder and CEO of Miroma Group, said: “James’s experience in theatrical marketing is second to none, something that is evidenced in the phenomenal job he has done over the past few years strengthening Dewynters and SpotCo to create a transatlantic powerhouse.

“That he is now in a position to step into a Chairman role is testament to his commitment to that joint CEO position. He remains the very best person to support the two businesses.”
